Join me for my new evening workshop this June where we’ll explore aspects of mental, emotional and spiritual wellness in a practical and accessible session designed to support those on a journey of self exploration.

During the pandemic I really missed delivering in person workshops and bringing like minded people together and so I’m very grateful and excited to be back on the road this June for these sessions in Galway, Dublin, Belfast and Cork.

These evening workshops provide the chance to slow down, take stock and gain insights around holistic wellness.

We will explore

  • The importance of ‘attention’, true self care and making space

The importance of ‘attention’, true self care and making space

Many of the solutions to modern day challenges are presented through the lens of intention, in changing something about our situation to move away from difficult feelings or discomfort before understanding or paying attention to how we are feeling. As a result we often find ourselves living as human ‘doings’ rather than human beings. We will look at the importance of bringing more attention to our lives, our feelings, our relationships and in environments, learning to be with what is before reacting or acting impulsively.

Exercises for improving self talk and managing the inner critic

How we speak to ourselves matters and so it is essential that we develop skills for improving self talk, questioning disempowering narratives and managing our inner critic, an outdated character in our minds always on the outlook for threats and looking to keep up safe from often imagined dangers. By working with our inner critic and understanding those aspects of ourselves we can move beyond old disempowering behaviors and show up fully acting from a place of love and not fear.

A framework for understanding the different characters in our heads

Though we may often think of the stories in our heads as coming from one voice, in truth we have a collection of characters in our heads, some with conflicting fears, dreams, values and drivers. By understanding these characters and their origins we can learn to go beyond our patterns and create new results in our lives.

Discussion on finding purpose, connection and community

It can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing and seeking that which we have been told we ‘should’ want to feel happiness and success in life. Driven by social conditioning and expectations in our minds we can become disconnected from a deeper sense of what we truly want. We will look at connection to self, to community and to nature and how we find more fulfillment and purpose in our work, relationships and personal lives.

Guided breathwork and meditation for managing stress and anxiety

Meditation and breathwork are powerful practices that allow us to come into the present moment, not stuck in old memories or future projections. We will go through some grounding and energizing breathwork practices over the course of the evening as we explore the link between body and mind.

Practical exercises for self soothing and creating a sense of internal safety

In a fast paced society many of us find ourselves in a level of low (or high) stress most of the time. Our nervous system when in a state of stress sends signals to our body and mind that we live in an unsafe world. We will introduce simple tools for developing safety from within that allows us to move from surviving to thriving.

Time for Questions and Perspectives

Time is allocated at the end of the session to address questions you might have. I never claim to have ‘the’ answers, but will happily share my own experiences and perspectives based on any questions you might have or discussions that may arise from what is covered over the course of the evening.

FAQ

What can I expect from the evening?

The evening allows a space to slow down, take stock and engage in some simple written exercises and breathing practices related to the topics I will be discussing on the night. I am confident everyone attending will leave feeling energized and inspired bringing with them a number of practical tools for mental and emotional wellness that can be implemented immediately.

Who are these evenings for?

These events are designed for those on a journey of self exploration or mission to improve connection to self and others, connection to purpose and to improved mental and emotional wellness. We’ve had people from all backgrounds and of all ages attended and there is always a lovely open dynamic in the room.

How long is the event?

The event will begin at 7.00pm with registration from 6.30pm and will end around 9.30pm.

Can I attend alone?

In my experience of running these events around 70% of people attending come on their own and often end up leaving having chatted to and connected with a number of like minded people.

Will I have to speak to other people/engage in activities?

My primary concern is that you feel comfortable and safe in the environment and so there is no expectation that you do anything you do not feel like doing! We do some meditation and breathwork practices and I often encourage a little discussion with a partner based on the content covered but there is no pressure on anyone. This is your evening and so you can engage as much or as little as you feel comfortable.
